Here is a little story for you:
"Toodle" is a verb my father used when a dog was wandering around outside or in, sniffing this or that, with no perceivable goal.
Here we have three Golden Retrievers toodling. They are together, but not paying much attention to each other. They are stopping and starting, reversing direction, investigating seaweed and driftwood and occasionally tasting it.
They've all been in for a swim and might dip themselves again.
These dogs know what they are up to, even if we don't.
They are practicing a sort of moving meditation. It is strolling around and enjoying their surroundings with the aim of strolling around and enjoying their surroundings.
This effortless appreciation for the present is something we love about dogs. Even the presentation of this precious life-lesson is easy for them. They teach us just by being themselves.
Toodling is good work if you can get it.
