I have painted on Appledore Island quite a few times, including August of 2015.
I have the most fun painting outdoors when I focus on my subject and react to it - letting this rock and the surf swarming all around it tell me about itself. It isn't all about enjoying myself out there, of course. I also learn the most about color, shapes, brushstrokes, values, water, rocks, light, and everything else going on in the little scene I have chosen.
On a beautiful evening after a nourishing supper, I painted one last panel before sundown. That exciting little sketch (which you can see here), became the inspiration for this print.
All the materials used in this print are entirely archival. I used lightfast oil inks on Mulberry paper.
Each print is hand numbered with impression and edition (ex. 3/62, 4/62, etc.) and signed and titled.
The unframed print comes in a clear bag, backed by an acid-free board.
The print does not have a watermark - that is just a graphic on the digital photo.
