Dozens of colors can be printed from a single block by combining two methods: jigsaw (cutting the block into pieces) and reduction (removing wood between layers).

Jigsaw reductions are usually printed with the power of an etching press.
A single piece of plywood is cut into pieces so that multiple colors can be printed on each layer.
